Friday is an interesting day at The Great Escape. There’s definitely less midweek anxiety going around, as this can be considered a genuine ‘day off’ – the start of the weekend - and that means a lot more punters.
In association with new Bulmers Flavours, we are giving away a pair of VIP tickets to V Festival in Chelmsford this summer. V Festival takes place on the 17th & 18th of August. This year's lineup includes Beyonce & Kings of Leon, among a host of others*.
So May’s little pretence of summer came and went at the very start of the month and back we were accepting Brighton summertime as we had come to expect it, cloudy and drizzly, when that annual smörgåsbord of new music excellence, the Great Escape, rolled on into town (and all over town!) and briefly changed things for a while.
Calling all Brighton University Graduating Students!! Brighton SU and DrinkinBrighton proudly present the official Grad Dinner…
Brighton Fringe is England's largest arts festival. This year will see almost 700 events packed into one month, from Cabaret to Workshops, all taking place from 4 May - 2 June.
Pioneering local record label, Skint Records kick off their new residency at Coalition on 11th May. We welcome to the table H&G heroes The Wideboys and Sonny Wharton. Room 2 will be headed up the Skint House Division.
Sam's of Brighton Spiegel Supper Club will be in business every night throughout Brighton Festival Fringe*, transforming the Spiegel Garden's bar tent into a gorgeous restaurant where you can enjoy a 4 course pre-show dinner. Feast on Warm Crab and Chilli Tartlets and Roast Rump of South Downs Lamb, followed by glorious English Strawberry Trifle.
Read on for details of upcoming shows at Coalition: Jaguar Skills, Death Grips, Pigeon Detectives, Ms Dynamite and check out the new Trash Mondays promo video.
Drink in Brighton will be running the bars at The Spiegeltent for the Fringe Festival from 1st May to 3rd June 2013. The Spiegeltent is returning to its rightful place on Steine Gardens during this year’s Festival Fringe, for the first time in many years. A European mirror tent, the Spiegeltent is the ultimate cabaret and music salon.
Spread over 30 venues during May 16th-18th, it’s now less than two months until The Great Escape takes over Brighton. Now in its eighth year, Europe’s answer to SXSW today announces the latest helping of the best emerging talent from across the world, adding over 50 artists to an outstanding line-up that has already left music fans reeling.
For local boys Rizzle Kicks it will be a massive homecoming show. As well as performing past anthems like Down with the Trumpets and Mama do the Hump, the Brighton duo will have a string of new hits from their second album, due out this summer.
The Great Escape is excited to announce the first acts confirmed to perform over 16th-18th May when it returns to Brighton for its eighth year running. Firmly established as Europe’s answer to SXSW, this year’s three day festival will present the hottest emerging talent, from the local to the international, to over 16,000 music lovers in 30+ venues.
The atmosphere is completely electric in Coalition, and why wouldn’t it be? Madeon is more used to destroying festivals with the set-up he’s dragged into what is, for this performance, an intimate club. DJ Mag’s No.54 DJ in 2012’s poll has been making music for seven years, which is especially impressive as he’s only 18 years old. The crowd matches his youth and when he takes to his multi-Launchpad set up (halfway between playing live and traditional DJing) they put all their energy into moshing, throwing their arms in the air and generally going completely off the wall.
The eccentric Sebastien Tellier plays Coalition 6.12.12. With its shuffling piano ‘La Ritournelle’ is one of the most beautiful tracks of the last decade. It feels like falling in love and having your heart broken at the same time, weeping with emotion but never overwrought
Don’t tell anyone young enough to be out clubbing now but the best house records of 2012 could have quite easily come out in the mid 90s.
Whatever you want from your New Year’s Eve this year, we’ve got it sorted for you. Whether you fancy a warming, cheerful and friendly night out in your local, or a more lively night out in town in a bustling pub… or dancing the night away to MC Hammer in one of Brighton’s best clubs … you’ll find it here.
Introducing the beautiful new vodka from Chase, produced by a single-estate distillery also well known for their exquisite gin. As well as their classic recipe you can also sup on their delicious new Marmalade flavour, both of which are available in most venues listed here on Drink in Brighton
This November we have an amazing deal on the delicious, bourbon tinged, and rather refreshing Jeremiah Weed - served in its very own jam jar!
