THE LOVELY EGGS
The Loves
Flash Bang Band
Have you ever heard THE LOVELY EGGS ? Or a digital accordian ? No ? Well, Wikipedia says they're a two piece, indie rock band from Lancaster, England. They consist of married couple Holly Ross and David Blackwell. They were also responsible for one of the more riotous PIO gigs of 2009, when they headlined an extremely sold out Westhill Community Centre. Since then they've released their debut album ("If You Were Fruit"), played SXSW, released a cassette album about people they met on tour called "Songs about People We met on Tour", collaborated with Jad Fair, and made a whole load of fans with their in-your-face friendless and militant upbeat demeanour. Something like a role reversed White Stripes discovering The Krankies.
"The Lovely Eggs are unhinged in the best possible way. Like a great aunt who keeps forgetting she’s already given you a fiver for clearing the dandelions out of her garden and keeps forking out again and again until your mum catches you." Drowned In Sound
"Lancaster’s answer to The Moldy Peaches" God Is In The TV.
Before THE LOVES call time on their ten tawdry years in the music business by imploding in a mess of badly drawn paper hearts, cheap alcohol and bodily fluids on Valentine’s Day 2011, they grace a Brighton stage for one final time. Ten years of unflinchingly upbeat 60's bubblegum pop and Northern Indie, ten years of irritating and exciting the music press in equal measures, ten years reputation as an amazing live band with a tendency towards mental illness & self destruction - a "career" that has spawned four albums, a live session from the holy mount of Peel Acres, even an album of the week award in the Sunday Times, god bless. Want to see them ? This is your LAST CHANCE !!
Regarded as one of the proponents of the Brighton Underground, FLASH BANG BAND consider themselves nothing of the sort. An out and out pop band, drawing from a myriad of influences and inspirations, the 4 piece rely on an absolutely tanking groove based rhythm section and nostalgic melodies to drive their original songwriting through audiences of all and any persuasion.
