Brighton Fringe is England's largest arts festival. This year will see almost 700 events packed into one month, from Cabaret to Workshops, all taking place from 4 May - 2 June.
Sam's of Brighton Spiegel Supper Club will be in business every night throughout Brighton Festival Fringe*, transforming the Spiegel Garden's bar tent into a gorgeous restaurant where you can enjoy a 4 course pre-show dinner. Feast on Warm Crab and Chilli Tartlets and Roast Rump of South Downs Lamb, followed by glorious English Strawberry Trifle.
Drink in Brighton will be running the bars at The Spiegeltent for the Fringe Festival from 1st May to 3rd June 2013. The Spiegeltent is returning to its rightful place on Steine Gardens during this year’s Festival Fringe, for the first time in many years. A European mirror tent, the Spiegeltent is the ultimate cabaret and music salon.
Spread over 30 venues during May 16th-18th, it’s now less than two months until The Great Escape takes over Brighton. Now in its eighth year, Europe’s answer to SXSW today announces the latest helping of the best emerging talent from across the world, adding over 50 artists to an outstanding line-up that has already left music fans reeling.
For local boys Rizzle Kicks it will be a massive homecoming show. As well as performing past anthems like Down with the Trumpets and Mama do the Hump, the Brighton duo will have a string of new hits from their second album, due out this summer.
Whatever you want from your New Year’s Eve this year, we’ve got it sorted for you. Throughout July and August pubs across the city will be embracing the Italian idea of aperitivo. It is quite usual for Italians to stop off on the way home from work to have a drink and a small bite to eat, in advance of dinner at home.
Every year, the beer tax escalator increases the tax on beer by 2% above the rate of inflation, thus adding considerably more pressure on the British pub, the cornerstone of many of our communities. Removing the beer duty escalator at the next budget will help keep beer more affordable and go a long way to supporting the institution that is – the great British pub.
The Mesmerist in Brighton’s South Lanes has just revealed its show stopping new menu, awash with delicious and authentic American inspired soul food. Momma Cherri who? Barbecoa what? This is the real deal.

So here the story ends. I, Hugo, have survived the Monday to Friday challenge at The Mesmerist. I’m intact, and you know what? I feel like I’ve been in a really pleasant time capsule – the type that I didn’t realise I’d enjoy quite so much. Friday night (and indeed Saturday night, as they follow a very similar route – especially in regards to the fun YOU will have) is quite something.
