For the third year running, Shakedown has teamed up with Drinkinbrighton.co.uk to give one band and one DJ the opportunity to play on the main stage of Brighton's biggest festival.
Friday is an interesting day at The Great Escape. There’s definitely less midweek anxiety going around, as this can be considered a genuine ‘day off’ – the start of the weekend - and that means a lot more punters.
So May’s little pretence of summer came and went at the very start of the month and back we were accepting Brighton summertime as we had come to expect it, cloudy and drizzly, when that annual smörgåsbord of new music excellence, the Great Escape, rolled on into town (and all over town!) and briefly changed things for a while.
Brighton Fringe is England's largest arts festival. This year will see almost 700 events packed into one month, from Cabaret to Workshops, all taking place from 4 May - 2 June.
Drink in Brighton will be running the bars at The Spiegeltent for the Fringe Festival from 1st May to 3rd June 2013. The Spiegeltent is returning to its rightful place on Steine Gardens during this year’s Festival Fringe, for the first time in many years. A European mirror tent, the Spiegeltent is the ultimate cabaret and music salon.
Lick specialise in yogurt. Their shop in Brighton offers a secret recipe of soft serve frozen yogurts all day, but Lick tubs are also now available to buy all night at Sticky Mike's Frog Bar.
Spread over 30 venues during May 16th-18th, it’s now less than two months until The Great Escape takes over Brighton. Now in its eighth year, Europe’s answer to SXSW today announces the latest helping of the best emerging talent from across the world, adding over 50 artists to an outstanding line-up that has already left music fans reeling.
The Great Escape is excited to announce the first acts confirmed to perform over 16th-18th May when it returns to Brighton for its eighth year running. Firmly established as Europe’s answer to SXSW, this year’s three day festival will present the hottest emerging talent, from the local to the international, to over 16,000 music lovers in 30+ venues.
Whatever you want from your New Year’s Eve this year, we’ve got it sorted for you. Whether you fancy a warming, cheerful and friendly night out in your local, or a more lively night out in town in a bustling pub… or dancing the night away to MC Hammer in one of Brighton’s best clubs … you’ll find it here.
Introducing the beautiful new vodka from Chase, produced by a single-estate distillery also well known for their exquisite gin. As well as their classic recipe you can also sup on their delicious new Marmalade flavour, both of which are available in most venues listed here on Drink in Brighton
For a while there, it looked like Pride had bid farewell to Brighton but luckily some rather nice people stepped in and saved the day! Hurrah! So, if you fancy celebrating with us this weekend here’s a few hot spots on the day. From pre-Pride breakfasts, to live act the Lip Sinkers or late night shenanigans with GAY BEAUTIFUL at Sticky Mike’s, we’ve got a host of festival fun to be had.
Throughout July and August pubs across the city will be embracing the Italian idea of aperitivo. It is quite usual for Italians to stop off on the way home from work to have a drink and a small bite to eat, in advance of dinner at home.
So, Great Escape’s final curtain, the third day, was upon us. By this time (if you’ve been doing the Escape proper) the fact that its only Saturday morning is quite weird as seeing 20 to 30 bands already would lead you to believe that the weekend would be nearly over. But alas, non! To the rest of mankind, well at least Brighton, the weekend was just beginning and to add excellence to everything the sun was still beating down hard on our beautiful seasidey place. The Saturday Escape experience seems a little more laid back, it’s not a school day for a start, and the delegate/industry crew who are still in town are soaking up some of the weekend sunny vibes – mainly outside the Mash Tun of course!
So, Day 2 of the Great Escape, now this in my opinion is the biggie. Yes, the Saturday as with any last day of festival is the climax and some of the real treats are saved for those ‘headline’ slots, but more often than not, that’s the big players, the (more) established acts and let’s be honest – that’s for bums on seats and is all about the public tickets (plus a little bit of nonsense with separate tickets for the big shows so you can’t even get in with your festival ticket anyway... don’t get me started !)
We can accomodate up to 200 people in the club, plus up to 100 in the bar area. We have pizzas available, for large groups these will need to be ordered in advance.
